Grant Amos – (BA Sociology, MA Psychology, Life Member NZ Psychological Society)

Grant has specialised in the business world for the last 40 years, working with your most important asset, the people around you.

His role is to help organizations make better decisions through a better understanding of their people onboard and potential new team members. He explains that he is really in the “people solutions business”, reducing the psychobabble to an absolute minimum, aiming to communicate in everyday business talk.

The cost of making the wrong people decision can be very expensive – appoint the wrong person, promote someone who looks good, but performs badly, put the wrong person in a critical team appointment or make succession planning without all of the information will often cost you dearly. Wrong people decisions can be expensive. Independent research shows that the minimum cost of poor people decisions is at least 157% of annual salary for the role, and it is highly disruptive to business and the current team.

Team dynamics and conflict resolution is also an area in which he offers consulting services.

As Grant explains “it is not avoiding putting round pegs in square holes, but avoiding forcing oval pegs into round holes and thinking you can make them fit. Most organisations can spot the really square peg, who is obviously a poor fit for the role, but businesses often try to squeeze someone into a role because they look like they will fit”

He will help your organization in an affordable, practical and accountable way to make much better decisions in areas such as:

  • Recruitment
  • Team building and dynamics
  • Performance management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Promotion and succession planning and placement
  • Personal grievance resolution

He has the experience and a range of “tools” to assist you in making the right people decisions.
